Record Jump in Job Creation

It wasn't what economists were expecting, but they’ll take it.
Statistics Canada reported the Canadian economy generated a record 107,000 new jobs last month. That is the largest overall jump since the government agency began collecting jobs data more than 30 years ago.
The downside is that 97,000 of those jobs were part-time positions.
The Canadian Labour Congress says the fact that 90 per cent of September's new jobs were part-time indicates a deterioration of work quality. They add that it shows a lack of public policy to generate jobs that can support a family.
The unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.1 per cent because more Canadians were looking for work.
