New Well-Being Index for Canadians

A new index is being created that will go beyond economic indicators like the GDP to measure the well-being of Canadians.
The index will gauge eight trends, including heath, education, participation in the democratic process, quality of environment and how Canadians use their time.
A non-partisan and independent institute, chaired by former Saskatchewan premier Roy Romanow will produce the index.
Romanow says the index will be able to tell Canadians where improvements need to be made or where changes in policies should be implemented.
