After days of censure by his critics, American President Barack Obama is defending his stance on Iran and the violence in the country over its disputed presidential election.
Obama’s critics are urging him to be more outspoken about the Iranian government’s brutal crackdown on protesters. Republicans are calling the president 'overly timid' in his remarks about Iran.
Obama says that all Americans want justice to prevail in Iran, but he's questioning the legitimacy of the disputed election.
He says it's impossible to know what happened at polling stations during the vote because there were no international monitors in place.
The president did caution that the Iranian government can't try to rule with an iron fist.
