Canadians Consume too much Salt: Study

A new study has found that Canadians could be getting too much salt.
A study by the UK’s World Action on Salt and Health reports that some global food brands distributed in Canada often have more salt than the same brand sold in other countries.
They cite one example as Kellogg's All Bran cereal, which has 70 per cent more salt than the same cereal in the United States.
The study also looked at Burger King, Nestle and Subway. Research shows the same products vary in the amount of salt from country to country.
WASH chairman Graham MacGregor is calling on food manufacturers to lower the amount of salt they put in their products, saying excessive sodium intake can increase the risk of heart disease.
