Towns Must Pay for Federal Stimulus Signs: Liberals

The Liberals are accusing the minority Conservative Government of forcing municipalities to pay for signs touting the Federal economic action plan.
Liberal House Leader Ralph Goodale says municipalities must sign an agreement that includes a provision requiring them to produce, erect and pay for economic action plan signs at each site before they get the stimulus cash.
The Liberals say the minority Conservative Government insists that a separate sign promoting the federal contribution be placed at each site.
Transport Minister John Baird defended the signs, calling them a demonstration that all three levels of government are “working constructively to create jobs and to build infrastructure.”
