Canada will Wait to Regulate GHG
Josh Pringle
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Environment Minister Jim Prentice suggests regulating Canadian greenhouse gases will be difficult until other countries decide how they will deal with climate change.
Prentice said Tuesday that Canada will wait to regulate emissions until the rest of the world reaches a climate change deal, and the US decides how to tackle emissions.
The Conservative cabinet minister was in Denmark meeting with other environment ministers ahead of next month’s United Nations conference.
Prentice told reporters that “in the absence of an international understanding, and in the absence of an international framework, it is difficult for any country to finalize domestic policies."
