The Canadian Federal Pilots Association is calling for a public inquiry into aviation safety.
The association warned of problems with new federal rules requiring airlines to do their own safety monitoring during an appearance before the House of Commons Transport Committee.
They told MPs stories about safety issues, including planes patched together with duct tape, illegal parts and an Air Canada jet refueled with its engines running and more than 100 passengers aboard.
Air Canada called the union’s allegations “false and misleading.”
