CN Rail has made a contract offer to the union representing locomotive engineers in a bid to end the five-day old strike.
Canadian National Rail has conditionally offered to withdraw a contentious work rule change in a “good faith effort.” The railway says it is willing to roll back the monthly mileage cap to its previous level if the union withdraws its own specified work-rule demands.
CN says it would be willing to send the issues of wages and benefits to binding arbitration.
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference was unavailable for comment.
The Federal Government tabled back to work legislation on Monday to end the strike.
