Residents Angry With 2009 Draft Budget

Some Ottawa residents suggest a five per cent property tax hike will "bankrupt" them.
Manotick residents had the first chance to question the 2009 City of Ottawa draft budget.
Councillors must find $35 million in cuts and new revenue to keep a property tax hike at 4.9 per cent.
City Staff propose user fee hikes, a decrease in transit routes, cuts to day care services and 230 job cuts at City Hall.
One resident told CFRA News that residents receive a two per cent increase in their wages a year, so the city should get the same hike.
Public consultations will continue this month across the City of Ottawa.
