Ceremony Held for Sapper Steven Marshall At Kandahar Airfield

The body of 24 year old Sapper Steven Marshall is on its way home after a ceremony Saturday at the Kandahar airfield.

About 23 hundred Canadian and foreign troops gathered to pay their last respects to the latest Canadian soldier to die in the Afghan mission.

One of Marshall's best friends, Sapper Dustin Perry, remembered him as a good friend with a great sense of humor and was devoted to those close to him.

Marshall who was based in Edmonton was killed Friday by an improvised explosive device.

He’s the second Canadian soldier to die this week.

Lieutenant Justin Boyes was killed Wednesday also from an I.E.D.

Boyes’ body was repatriated on Saturday at C.F.B Trenton.

133 Canadian soldiers have now died since the Afghan mission began in 2002.
