Ottawa Police Chief Vern White is requesting a budget increase of 5.7% to allow for 30 new police officers, 15 civilian hires, and $1.30 per litre gas. Supporters say whether it comes from city taxes or larger fed/prov. grants, the Ottawa Police Service needs the extra money
