Madely's Top 5

5. Bubba wins!

Florida leftie Bubba Watson wears the green jacket after winning the Masters for the second time in three years. He played a three-under par final round to finish at 280 for a 3-shot victory over two players who had never played a Masters before. Too late for a playoff berth, the Ottawa Senators have ended the season stringing together a 5-game winning streak, their longest of the season.

4. Pings are lost

The weekend has passed and still no more pings in the search for the black boxes of the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370. Searchers are sending a robotic submarine deep into the Indian Ocean today for the first time. The sub can create a three-dimensional sonar map of the area to try to chart any debris on the seafloor. Angus Houston, the head of a joint agency coordinating the search, said this is the best lead they have, but "this will be a slow and painstaking process."

3. Turmoil in Ukraine

Towns in eastern Ukraine are bracing for likely military action from government forces intent on ousting pro-Russian separatists who have ignored a government deadline for disarming. For the first time yesterday Ukraine's government sent in security services to confront the pro-Russians, defying warnings from Russia. At least one police officer was killed according to Ukraine officials. The UN Security Council has met in an emergency session over the growing violence in eastern Ukraine.

2. Drive-by murder in Toronto

Former Canadian basketball star, 23-year-old Alwayne Bigby, and a 21-year-old friend have been charged in Toronto's latest drive-by murder. 33-year-old Andrea White was with friends in the garage of her home when a Land Rover drove past her home and shots were discharged from the passenger side. In Utah, a 39-year-old woman has been arrested after seven dead babies were found in cardboard boxes in the garage of her home. She gave birth to the babies over a ten year period.

1. New arrest in murder case

Ottawa Police have arrested and questioned the husband of Jagtar Gill, the 43-year-old Barrhaven mother of three who was murdered in her home in January. Bhupinderpal Gill, who remains in a cell at police headquarters this morning, has repeatedly denied being romantically involved with the woman arrested last week on a charge of first-degree murder. He and the woman who is been charged, Gurpreet Ronald, a mother of two, both worked as OC Transpo drivers, and rumors have swirled that the two were involved.
