Baby born in parking lot doing well: Ottawa paramedics

A baby girl born in the parking lot of a school on Gardenvale Road is doing well.

Paramedics say the baby's parents were en route to the hospital around 5:20 a.m. Friday when they called 9-1-1.

One of the paramedic communications officers told the father to pull over to help his wife because the baby's head was crowning.

The officer gave the father instructions over the phone, and he helped deliver his child.

Paramedics got to the scene one minute after the little girl was born and assessed the 31-year-old mother and her new daughter in their minivan.

Both are in stable condition.
