Ottawa woman charged with drunk driving following incident on 417

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 24-year-old Ottawa woman with impaired driving after a vehicle drove into a construction zone on the westbound Queensway near Belfast early Tuesday morning.

Police say two OPP cruisers were in the process of temporarily closing the highway for construction around 2:55 a.m., when a vehicle tried to drive between them.

The suspect vehicle struck one of the cruisers while trying to squeeze through.

The officer sped up and was able to stop the suspect vehicle before it reached the workers on the road.

Alyssa Sinclair-Hall has also been charged with driving over the legal drinking limit and with several Highway Traffic Act offences.

She is scheduled to appear in court March 6.
