Mitzvah Day - A Day for Good Deeds

More than 400 people in Ottawa will take time out of their day today to perform a good deed.

It's the eighth annual Mitzvah Day, a program run by the Jewish Federation of Ottawa that sees people give back to the community... by doing things like preparing meals for Shepherds of Good Hope and the Ottawa Mission, or by writing letters to kids at CHEO.

Ariel Fainer with the Federation tells CFRA it's not only members of the Jewish community who are taking part in the day - people from all walks of life are showing interest, and coming together to do something good.

Organizations that benefit from Mitzvah Day include Locks of Love, CHEO, the Lone Soldiers Project and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada.
