SQ officers injured while making arrests

Sûreté du Québec say two police officers suffered minor injuries while trying to arrest three people found inside a stolen vehicle in Shawville Sunday night.

They were called to a local business around 11:30 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle and found that the car had been reported stolen in Oshawa.

Police say the three people in the car resisted arrest and the officers were forced to use pepper spray and a baton to subdue them.

Two passersby also stopped to help.

The suspects were taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 19-year-old Oshawa man, a 23-year-old man and a young girl were taken to the police station; they face charges of concealment, assaulting a police officer, threats and breaching court orders.

Sûreté du Québec say the girl had been reported missing by her family Feb. 6 and was returned to a family member.
