Suspect charged in rash of vehicle break-ins

Ottawa police have charged a 45-year-old man in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins.

The man was arrested last Wednesday; police allege he smashed the window of a car parked in a private garage in a high rise near Rideau and Nicholas streets and stole valuables from inside.

Paul Pastor is charged with a number of offences, including six counts of mischief, possession of stolen property and attempted theft.

Police have been dealing with a spike in thefts from vehicles in the downtown core as of late; last week, they reminded the public not to leave valuables in their cars.
