Free tax filing services offered for low-income individuals

It's that time of the year again - tax season and that means yet another fee to process those returns.

But several groups, including Ottawa ACORN are offering free tax filing services for people who are having trouble making ends meet.

"We're trying to make sure that low-income Canadians receive all the benefits that are there for them to try and ensure that there is community wealth in these neighbourhoods and that they're accessing what they really should be getting," said Ottawa ACORN spokesperon Angela Plant.

ACORN's tax service launches today and runs until the end of May. It's by appointment only.

Ontario's Chartered Professional Accountants also offer a similar service.

That annual free clinic is reserved for people with a total household income of $30,000 with dependents or less than $20,000 without dependents.

You can book an appointment online at cpaontario.ca.
