Pubs Open Early for Sunday's Big Game, but No Booze Served in Ottawa

After a huge win against the U.S. on Friday, Canada's mens hockey team is getting ready to face off against Sweden on Sunday morning for the gold medal game in Sochi.

And Pubs across our nation are gearing up for the game too.

The game will be starting at 7 a.m. eastern.

Bars in many cities and towns will be open early and serving drinks... but no alcohol will be served here in the capital.

Premier Alison Redford tweeted that bars in Alberta will be open and serving alcohol at 5 a.m. in that province.

CTV News reports that special permission will exist in many parts of the country - with some notable exceptions. Bars in British Columbia and here in Ottawa may be open, but they won't be pouring drinks.
