Police crack down on home takeovers

Ottawa Police have laid 12 charges following a two-day crack down on home takeovers in Ottawa.

Officers conducted 96 premise checks on Wednesday and Thursday at Ottawa Community Housing buildings and other properties.

They executed on warrant arrest, and laid 24 tresspass to property charges/notices and seven Liquor License Act charges.

Police officers also identified three tenants who are possible victims of a home takeover, but they did not wish to file a complaint with police.

The suspects in home takeovers usually target vulnerable people and use their homes to run drug operations.
