Ottawa man charged with assaulting bus driver

A 50-year-old Ottawa man has been charged after an OC Transpo driver was allegedly assaulted Monday while the bus was in motion.

Police say a drunk man had gotten on the bus on Waller Street and then became belligerent and aggressive towards the driver.

The driver was not hurt, but was forced to swerve into oncoming traffic during the assault.

There were no collisions.

Patrick Guitard has been charged with assault, causing a disturbance, public intoxication and breach of probation.

He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
