Carp landfill protesters say Ministry of Environment "biased" against them

The citizens' group working to fight a proposed dump in Carp are accusing officials in the Ministry of the Environment of Bias.

Group leader Olivia Nixon says they've obtained emails through an access to information request that show Greg Davis, a senior environmental officer in the ministry, accusing community members of lying to exaggerate the impact of a new landfill.

"Essentially, he was discounting my reference to these odor events and saying that I was lying. I mean, I think, in his email he says 'at some point I may have to consider this as misleading information,'" Nixon said.

She says the emails also show ministry officials dismissing the community group as, "the usual suspects."

Davis's boss has acknowledged it was inappropriate for him to inject opinion into reports intended to gather facts alone.
