Confirmed case of the measles in Ottawa

For the first time in three years, there is a confirmed case of measles in Ottawa.

A lab confirms the disease was contracted by a student at St. Stephen Catholic School in Stittsville who had not been immunized.

The student recently visited the Philippines.

Ottawa Public Health has posted a list of places and times where people may have been exposed to the child.

  • February 25, 2014, 8:45 a.m. - noon: Med-Team Clinic, 103-99 Kakulu Road
  • February 27, 2014: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Active Care Clinic, 1108 Klondike Road
  • February 28, 2014: noon - 2:20 p.m.: CHEO emergency department

The last case of measles reported in Ottawa was in February of 2011 and it was also travel-related.
