uOttawa president to address controversies

University of Ottawa President Allan Rock is holding a news conference Thursday morning to address the two recent scandals plaguing his institution.

Rock has been silent since the university announced it had suspended its varsity men's hockey team Monday, following an allegation of sexual assault.

Thunder Bay Police are conducting an investigation into a sexual assault that took place in that city over the February 1st weekend.

Police say they are investigating several members of the team.

The university will only go as far as to say the team was suspended over allegations of "serious misconduct."

The news was the second blow to the university this week after an online conversation that allegedly saw sexually violent comments posted about the student president, Anne-Marie Roy was made public.

The case prompted Police Chief Charles Bordeleau to speak out publicly, saying the comments were disgusting.
