The National Capital Commission is marking the end of another successful skating season on the Rideau Canal Skateway.
The NCC says the 44th season of the world's largest skating rink began on December 31st, 2013, and officially lasted 71 days.
Over that period, there were 58 skating days, including a stretch of 38 consecutive days that lasted through all three weekends of Winterlude.
More than 1.2 million people visited the Canal Skateway this season.
The NCC says warmer temperatures and direct sunshine have deteriorated ice quality, and are urging the public to remain off the skateway now that it's closed.
