Ottawa falls short on transit in a new survey, not even cracking the Top 10 cities with the best transit in the country.
Toronto is at the top of a new survey, beating out Vancouver and Montreal. Ottawa sits at a distant fifth in Canada and comes in number 12 in North America.
Thirty-four Canadian cities were ranked out of 100 on factors like what sort of transit is offered in terms of buses, trains and light transit. The survey also took into account the frequency of routes and how many stops are in the city.
Toronto scored 78, Montreal took 77 and Vancouver rounded out the top three at 74. Ottawa is just shy of half the possible score at 49.
The survey was done by Walk Score, a Seattle based company that traditionally evaluates how "walkable" a city is. Walk Score says the key to a good transit ranking is a mix of rail and bus service available close by.
