Former Senate policy advisory charged with fraud

RCMP have laid fraud charges against a former Senate policy advisor.

The charges are related to the awarding of contracts between 2007 and 2011.

RCMP allege the man claimed that he could influence the awarding of federal government contracts and took money form companies wanting to do business with them.

Hubert Pichet, 58, has been charged with five counts of fraud on the government and breach of trust by a public officer.

Pichet is scheduled to appear in court in Montreal on May 1st.
