Paramedics expect quieter St. Patrick's Day

We may be scorning the cold --- but Ottawa Paramedics say the weather coupled with the fact that it's a Monday will probably mean fewer St. Patrick's Day partiers.

St Paddy's Day is usually the third busiest day of the year for Ottawa Paramedics and it's certainly up there for police too.

But JP Trottier with Ottawa Paramedics said despite some of the line ups outside of Irish bars Monday morning, they expected a quieter day.

"People have been at work, or should have been at work and will be working tomorrow [Tuesday] as well," said Trottier.

"The cold weather may play a factor in slowing things down for us, so yes, we will see an increase in our calls... but we don't anticipate that it'll be extremely busy.

Those calls are mostly alcohol related and also see paramedics tending to falls, breaks and cuts.

Canada Day and New Year's Eve are the two busiest times of the year for paramedics.
