As they expand to serve nearly twice the number of people in their community the Somerset West Community Health Centre is fundraising to finish off a few key elements.
The majority of the expansion costs are being covered by the city and the province but the finishing touches require an extra $500,000.
Coordinator Rosemary Jones said the expansion will allow them to serve an additional 11,000 people.
"With more space we can actually utilize our doctors and our nurse practitioners better so we can put more people through the system and we already have 14,000 registered clients, which is probably close to a third of the population of our catchment area," she said.
The centre offers services ranging from primary care from family doctors to harm reduction, from wellness counselling to palliative care.
