No Medicine, No Money after Purse Snatching

A West Ottawa Robbery has left a mother shocked and angry.

Colleen Allen says she was at a McDonald's restaurant in Kanata with her daughter, when her purse containing a large amount of cash and her daughter's medication was stolen.

She had left her table to throw away her drink cup, and in those few seconds, Allen says two young males she describes as teenagers snatched her purse and ran out of the restaurant.

She tells CTV Ottawa she wants the thieves to be held accountable.

"Shame on them" says Allen. "And especially shame on them because not only did I have hundreds of dollars, but I had my child's medication."

Allen's seven year old daughter suffers from bad asthma and severe peanut allergies, and the purse held her daughter's Epi-Pen, prescriptions for puffers, and an aero-chamber that helps the puffers work.

Allen says several witnesses ran after the thieves, but it was too late.

McDonald's is releasing security footage to police.
