Catholic board asks principals to review procedures for mechanical doors

The Ottawa Catholic School Board says all principals have been reminded to review safety procedures regarding motorized doors in school gyms.

The OCSB took the action after a 13-year-old boy was seriously injured after he was pinned between a motorized door and the wall of the gym at Notre Dame High School.

The board says they do have safety procedures are in place regarding the use of doors like that one.

Counselling resources are available at the school for students who need it.

The boy is expected to survive.
