Investigations into a vehicle shooting on Walkley Road Wednesday night have taken an uncommon turn for the Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit.
The victim is actually offering information to police.
One aspect that is different in this case is that the victim is also a person of interest in another case.
"We believe that this is a targeted incident, this was not a random event," said Acting Staff Sgt. Ken Bryden.
He added that it is very unusual for a victim to cooperate.
"But, for whatever reason, the victim is cooperating at this point. There's still a lot of work to be done but we are certainly absorbing as much as we can from the victim while we can," said Bryden.
He has told CFRA News nearly every guns and gangs investigation detectives are left counting on witnesses and forensic work because the victims won't tell them anything about what happened.
