February STEP yields over 600 charges in Ottawa, Gatineau

Hundreds of drivers in the National Capital Region have been ticketed as a result of February's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

More than 140 motorists in Ottawa were charged for running red lights, while 200 were caught in Gatineau.

About 140 charges were laid against drivers and passengers on this side of the river for improper seatbelt use; more than 170 were fined on the Quebec side.

Ottawa and Gatineau police are watching for distracted drivers and motorists making unsafe lane changes this month.
