A Gatineau man is sitting in a holding cell this morning, after he was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of his school van, and stopped to pick up elementary kids.
School staff say they noticed the driver appeared intoxicated when he arrived at St. Paul Elementary School, on Rue Isabelle in Hull, to pick up a group of children around 3:20 Monday afternoon.
The kids were pulled off the van, and witnesses say the driver was held until police arrived.
Gatineau Police say the 47 year old driver failed a roadside breathalyzer test, his license was invalid, and he has a prior impaired driving conviction.
When they took him in yesterday, police say his blood alcohol measured four times the legal limit.
His name has not been released, and he will be in court later today.
