Pain at the pumps is no stranger to Canadians but we haven't seen prices this high in some time.
Gas prices were sitting at a three-year high in Ottawa Thursday morning. Some stations are selling fuel at $1.38 /litre.
Analyst Dan McTeague tells CTV News the high gas prices come with "an unusual caveat and that's that there really aren't a lot of demand or supply issues driving this."
"This has a lot to do with speculation on the markets that...demand may increase or there might be some geo-political tension down the road," McTeague said.
