Mayor's Canada Day Celebration for Seniors cancelled

The annual Canada Day Celebration for Seniors in Ottawa has been cancelled this year.

Hosted by the mayor, the event has been held annually at the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park; the area isn't available this year because of construction.

A search for an alternative venue has failed to find a location that can hold up to 2,000 people and includes access to mass transit, parking and stays within the event's budget.

A list of Ottawa-area Canada Day celebrations will be posted on the city's website in June.
