Woman dead, son in custody as Ottawa Police launch second homicide investigation of 2014

An 18-year man is in custody in connection with an Orleans woman's death following a dramatic takedown just streets away from her St. Bruno Street home.

Ottawa Police have launched a homicide investigation.

Police and paramedics were called just after 1:00 PM today amid reports a woman's throat had been slashed.

The 49-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

At around 3:30, while police were still inside the home and searching the surrounding area, a neighbour told them she'd seen a young man running through her backyard. Shortly after, Police made an arrest nearby.

Neighbours say the man in custody is 18-year-old Christopher Gobin, the son of the woman found dead.

No charges have been laid at this time.
