Man charged in April 2 downtown swarming

A 25-year-old Ottawa man is facing several charges in connection with a downtown swarming that happened on April 2.

Police say a woman was approached by two men at a bus shelter and struck by one of the men. Her cell phone was stolen and the two men tried to sell it shortly after.

Police arrested Matthew Haslem and have charged him with robbery, trafficking property obtained by crime and two counts of breaching his probation conditions.

Police are still searching for a second suspect.

They describe him as Caucasian and in his late twenties with a small build standing about 5'7".
