Hintonburg residents unhappy with pedestrian route during LRT construction

A plan has been in the works for months to divert hundreds of buses onto Scott Street during LRT construction in the Capital.

Residents of Hintonburg have been asking the city to find alternative routes for the buses.

Now, frustrated by the long wait for a report on the impact on neighbourhood safety, the Hintonburg Community Association conducted its own safety audit Thursday night.

Community members fanned out to look for any concerns in the area of Bayview Yards where the current plan calls for pedestrian and bicycle pathways.

Residents doing the search say it's simply not a safe option.

They site poor lighting, possible hiding places, and lack of opportunity to call for help in an emergency as problems.
