Officers hand out 28 tickets during one-day bus safety blitz

OC Transpo Special Constables partnered up with officers from the Ottawa Police on Friday evening for a safety blitz on city buses.

The officers were on the lookout for general troublemakers, fare jumpers and anyone with open liquor on the bus.

The teams were focused on routes out of South Keys, Billings Bridge, Blair, Place D'Orleans and Hurdman stations.

By the end of the evening they had laid one Liquor License Act charge and issued 27 tickets from bylaw for failing to produce a proof of payment.

Ottawa Police say these types of projects take place throughout the year and will happen again in the future.
