Hopewell Public School hosts We Create Change Tour

Over 800 students welcomed Free The Children's We Create Change Tour at Hopewell Public School in Old Ottawa South today.

Motivational speaker Spencer West, 11-year old activist Hannah Alper and Canadian band Neverest are in Ottawa as part of a ten week tour celebrating the actions the country's young people have taken to provide children in developing countries access to education.

Aliya Frendo, a grade 7 student at Hopewell, says she was inspired to help following trips to India with her family.

“When I’m in India I see a lot of children lacking lots of essential things like food and water, they’re begging on the streets and there are just so many of them. I’ve been visiting for very a long time and I’ve always wanted to help and that’s really where my motivation comes from,” Frendo told CFRA.

Schools across Ottawa have been raising money to contribute both globally and locally to Free the Children related initiatives.
