Kids Help Phone holding Walk So Kids Can Talk Sunday

Kids Help Phone is a free, 24-hour phone counselling service for young Canadians, and they're celebrating their 25th year.

Sunday, the Walk So Kids Can Talk gets underway in towns and cities across Canada, in an effort to help raise money for Kids Help Phone.

The 5k Walk is the charity's largest annual fundraiser. This year, they hope to take in $3 million in pledges and sponsorships.

Here in Ottawa, the walk will be taking place at Vincent Massey Park. Sign-in is at 8:30a.m., with the walk events starting at 10:00a.m.

Kids Help Phone Fundraising rep Morah MacDonald tells CFRA that Ottawa typically raises about $200,000 a year in the walk.

The money is used to support the counselling centre, which is staffed 24/7/365 by professional counsellors with strong backgrounds in youth mental health.

Their services are free for kids aged 5 to 20, anywhere in Canada, by dialling 1-800-668-6868.
