CHEO had two big reasons to celebrate on Sunday.
First, the hospital raised over $804,000 in its CN Cycle for CHEO event. The cycling and walking event is the hospital's biggest yearly fundraiser.
Second, the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario was given a great honour. CHEO was named the top hospital in Ontario for pediatric inpatient satisfaction for the second year in a row.
Compared to 26 other hospitals, CHEO had the highest ranking when pediatric patients and their parents were asked about their overall satisfaction with inpatient care.
The data comes from the National Research Corporation Canada/Ontario Hospital Associations patient ratings report. The NRCC and the OHA based their report on patients who had an inpatient stay or emergency department visit between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.
"This is happy news, and proof that we are heading in the right direction with CHEOnext, our action plan for changing how health care is delivered to kids and families in this region," said Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO.
CHEO helps more than 500,000 kids in Ontario each year. It is the second largest hospital in the Champlain LHIN and one of only a few stand-alone pediatric hospitals in Canada.
