Search and Rescue training taking place in Gatineau

If you see people with orange parachutes jumping out of Hercules aircraft or Griffon helicopters with hoists active in Gatineau this week do not be alarmed-- it's just training.

Transport and Rescue 424 Squadron out of 8 Wing Trenton is conducting a Search and Rescue exercise called TIGEREX 2014 in Gatineau from May 5 to 9.

You may notice increased Air Force activity, but unless otherwise stated, it's part of a carefully controlled training scenario and does not constitute an actual emergency.

8 Wing Trenton says the purpose of the exercise is to allow search and rescue technicians to retain their skills and expertise through simulated complex rescue scenarios.
