Mother, five children driven from home by fire

A mother and her five children have been driven from their home after a fire broke out in the basement of a two-storey townhouse.

Ottawa Fire was called to Aspen Village Circle in Gloucester after 11:30 this morning.

Crews kept the flames contained to the laundry room, but there is heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

Total damage is estimated at $100,000.

Other family members along with the Red Cross and Salvation Army have stepped in for assistance.

No one was hurt.
