The 62nd annual Tulip festival starts Friday.
The yearly festival runs until May 19th, and will feature nearly a million tulip blooms across the city.
The festival marks the legacy of friendship between Canada and the Netherlands, thanks to Canada's lead role in the liberation of the Dutch people in World War II. Canada also provided safe haven for members of the Dutch Royal Family during the war. Princess Margriet was born in Ottawa.
