Rideauwood Walkathon raises $45,000

Ottawa Police say the 14th annual Rideauwood Addicition and Family Services Walkathon is a success.

The 5k walk-or-run event drew over 200 people and raised more than $45,000 for Rideauwood, Saturday.

The money will go toward services that aid people with addictions and concurrent mental health issues in our community.

In a statement, Rideauwood Executive Director Paul Welsh says they are "touched by the community's response to the walkathon."

Police Chief Charles Bordeleau led the way in the walkathon. Bordeleau says, “It is important that we continue to support Rideauwood’s ability to continue their great work for members of our community facing addiction and concurrent mental health challenges.”
