Retirement residence to become student housing this year

The now-defunct Chartwell City Centre Retirement Residence will be a new residence for University of Ottawa students this fall.

The university’s director of housing Michel Guilbeault says the university has a long-term lease for the building, but couldn't say how long that lease was.

Guilbeault says she expects the new residence to have a positive impact on the housing shortage problem for students in the city.

The residence is expected to house up to 400 students.
