Vendors and businesses in the ByWard Market will be staying open later into the evening on Thursdays.
Katherine Solomon with the ByWard Market B-I-A tells CFRA the move will allow Ottawa residents to get their shopping done after work.
"You've got your fresh fruits and vegetables that are going to be out," she said. "There's going to be all the meats and the cheeses and there's eggs and there's lots of specialty stores here that are going to have everything that you possibly need to fill up your pantry," she said.
The BIA is also unveiling a new Demo Corner in front of the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, where chefs will be demonstrating how to prepare local foods.
"That's going to be promoting the local businesses here, their foods that are readily available," she said. "The restaurateurs are going to come in, they're going to be using food that you can readily buy here in the ByWard Market."
Many of the stores and vendors will stay open until at least 8 p.m. Thursday evenings during the summer months.
