Ottawa fire crews rescue woman trapped in car

Ottawa fire crews were called in Saturday morning to pull a woman in her 60s out of a car that flipped over.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life and other heavy rescue tools to rescue the woman who was trapped in the car.

Crews got the call around 8:45 a.m.

The car was on its roof in about 2 ft. of water surrounded by heavy brush on Highway 417 westbound just past the Carp Road exit.

It appears the woman lost control of the car and it flipped over.

Fire rescue crews stabilized the woman inside vehicle on a backboard, and then pulled her out through the back window.

They say the woman was conscious and talking to crews. She was taken to hospital but no serious injuries are reported.
